Autism

Autism, also known as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), is a neurodevelopmental disorder that can affect social interaction, communication, and behaviour. It is characterised by a wide range of symptoms and varying levels of impairment. Autism is considered a spectrum disorder because it encompasses a wide range of challenges and strengths that can vary greatly from person to person.

Autistic Spectrum Disorder

Finding a holiday cottage that is welcoming and suitable for people on the Autistic Spectrum can be difficult and we realise that organising a holiday break can also be stressful. To help you plan ahead you will find some useful information on our page. Please also contact us to ask any questions  before your arrival.

Sensory Story

A sensory story is a story designed to engage individuals with sensory processing differences, including those with autism or other sensory-related conditions. It is a multi-sensory approach to storytelling that aims to create a rich sensory experience by incorporating various sensory elements, such as sounds, textures, smells, and movements.

The design of a sensory story should consider the individual's sensory preferences, sensitivities, and interests. We have personalised our sensory story to your stay with us at Knockerdown. You can use the sensory story to prepare for your stay with us and enhance the individuals engagement and enjoyment.

We have a Sensory Story available for you to download. Please have a look and get in touch if you have any queries.
