There were 11 of us, a family group. This place was absolutely ideal! With a great pub opposite. The pool and games room were a great success. Couldn't get the kids out. The 3 large double bedrooms were better than expected and the 2 bunk bed rooms were perfect for the children. The staff very accommodating and helpful.

Great choice for a large family get together - 4 seniors 7 adults 8 children in 5 cottages in our case. Excellent accommodation and swimming pool. The pub being next door is an added bonus! Also had Middleton, Callow and Dove cottage.

We were a group of 3 families staying for a short visit over half term. The cottage was perfect for us and we loved the large dining table and kitchen. The kids loved the pool, games room and playground. Location was great for day trips out. The team were lovely too! Looking forward to coming back again!

We had a great stay at Knockerdown. The cottage met all our needs and the children loved the park, games room and swimming pool. The cottage was a great base to explore the Peak district, we ventured into Matlock, Ashbourne and Carsington water for some great days out.

A great place to stay. Easy walking distance to Carsington Water and lots of local walks. The Knockerdown pub across the road does excellent food! Kedleston Hall, National Trust property is only a 20 minute drive away and a great day out!

We booked Two Dales for two nights. Absolutely brilliant location, and the complex is well designed with everything we needed. Really enjoyed our stay and everything was well organised. Thoroughly recommended !

Our family of 4 had an excellent stay here. Cottage was spotless with everything supplied that you would ever need. Swimming pool and games room topped it all off. Unfortunately due to the weather we didn't get to use the bbq areas or outdoor space. I would highly recommend.

Great Place to stay, beautiful location! Pub across the road is lovely too, great outdoor area! I stayed with my two boys who loved the pool which we had to ourselves most of the time. Bedroom was spacious and the bunk beds were a lot bigger than expected, we all slept very well. Bathroom is very nice, the cottage has everything you need the kitchen and lounge, all very comfortable. Close to the beautiful town of Ashbourne which we visited for Supermarkets and Frappes at Costa! 20 mins to Alton Towers with 2 day visit which works with the size of the place. We explored Luds Church and the Roaches. Pooles Cavern in Buxton and the picturesque Matlock Baths. So many beautiful places nearby and Carrington water on your doorstep! Very pleased we all had a great time.

A beautiful location, lovely accommodation, brilliant facilities and lots to see and do in the area for all ages. It really was home from home. The pub over the road had nice food, although some of the menu we thought was on the expensive side , especially for the children. Spent an enjoyable day at the farm park, wandered in Matlock bath, saw lots of lovely little villages.

We visited as a large group, 38 people and 6 dogs - we had 6 cottages and the function room. Everything was perfect and the customer service in the lead up to, and during, the weekend was amazing. We are rebooking for next year already.

Beautiful house and will defo use again

Perfect trip to the Peaks, the location was great. Amazing facilities and we used the pool each day, our 3 year old daughter had the best time and said it was her ‘favourite holiday house’ ever. We are looking to come back as a larger group and hire more accommodation.

Would highly recommended this location. Pristine accommodation, friendly staff. The Knockerdown pub was excellent too with a good choice on the menu.

I stayed at Knockerdown with my children (14) & (3) and we all had a great time. The children absolutely loved the swimming pool, play area and games room. There were a couple of issues throughout the stay but they were dealt with quickly and the groundsman was very kind and helpful. I would recommend going!

Great place to stay with young children

A beautiful cottage in an idyllic setting. Clean, comfortable, with lots of little extras (e.g. tea, coffee, milk and washing up liquid), which all helped to make our visit really special. Only 30 minutes from Alton Towers.

fabulous centre for a short break. overlooking a lake, fabulous views, amazing walks and a private swimming pool. what more could you ask for. you could stay there are month and not run out of things to do. we say Teletubbies at Alton Towers, monkeys in trentham Forest, history at Chatsworth, and so much more. We had a great 4 night stay with family. The pool and games room was a huge hit with all ages. The Farmhouse was perfect for our party of 12. Carsington water was a nice walk away, and a lovely place to spend the day. The knockerdown pub serves beautiful food. We are already planning a return trip. Thank you!

Just wanted to say how pleased we were with Two Dales this weekend. The cottage was finished to a high standard, had everything we needed (facilities great)and was very clean. Thank very much, we would definitely return. 

A great stay at the wonderful Knockerdown Cottages, clean, spacious yet cosy. The cottage was so welcoming on arrival and had everything needed for our stay. Pool was great. We will hopefully be returning soon!

Had a lovely Monday to Friday relaxing break. Stayed in 2 bedroomed Dove cottage which was warm, cosy, very clean and very well equipped for our stay. Lovely comfy beds with good quality sheets etc. Large fluffy towels in bathrooms and good ensuite shower with full bath in the separate bathroom. Kitchen had everything in it that you could possibly need and the addition of tea, coffee, milk and condiments was a thoughtful touch. Had a slight problem setting the radiators but a quick phone call quickly bought us a lovely lady who quickly showed us what to do and set them just how we needed them. We enjoyed having a pool on site and enjoyed a swim every day, mostly having it to ourselves. We were lucky that we picked a quiet week to visit which suited us but can see what a lovely place it would be for families or couples alike. The owners and staff should be very proud of what they have achieved here and we hope that we can visit again. Would certainly recommend to anyone wanting a country break with lots to do in the surrounding area.

We had our wedding this weekend at Knockerdown, and the team went out of their way to make us feel welcome, comfortable, relaxed and v important!
The cottages were perfect. Warm, well stocked, homely. The location is perfect. The pool was brilliant. Everything was just brilliant. I would not have a bad word to say about Knockerdown. If you're planning a weekend weekend. Book here. You will absolutely not regret it and you will have the most amazing memories.

We had a fabulous stay at Knockerdown Cottages - stayed in Lendow and it was spacious, pristine, warm, inviting and just perfect for the 8 of us - 4 adults and 4 children. The amenities onsite were brilliant, lovely games room and pool, and gorgeous views from across the sizeable enclosed field out the back. We enjoyed the short walk to the friendly local pub opposite and the location of the cottage more generally was nothing short of perfect - short hop to Matlock Bath for the Heights of Abraham and the kids also enjoyed the nearby National Stone Museum. So close to Carsington Water too - we'll definitely return for the watersports when the weather is warmer. Thanks for being excellent hosts - everything was made so easy. We'd love to return again soon.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Two Dales Cottage. It was an excellent space for a break with extended family. The games room and pool were a great addition and the location was perfect for what we wanted. We will definitely be booking again.

We stayed in the farmhouse property with friends and their family. The property was perfect! Lovely and clean on arrival the kids loved the fact there is a games room and pool (which they were in twice a day!) Location was great, lovely surroundings and not far to drive to get to places of interest. Would definitely stay here again!

We took small children and had a lovely time. The cottage we stayed in was small, clean, charming, functional. It's not luxurious but it is just what you need and in a perfect location for staying with kids - with the amazing swimming pool. It's a lovely big pool which the kids were in for hours! A good games room as well, walking distance to the pub. Such friendly people - I even forgot my steriliser and bottles and they put them in the post to me - so kind. And the location for places like Dovedale, Chatsworth and for walking in the peaks is absolutely perfect. We would def stay again and thank you so much for a lovely holiday.

Fabulous weekend break.  Had a lovely time meeting up with family and enjoying some quality time with our grandchildren.  Cottage was spotless, very homely and the surrounding area is glorious.  The children really enjoyed the swimming pool and had it to themselves which was a bonus.  The staff have gone above and beyond with communication and returning items that we left behind.  Would highly recommend to everyone I know and very much appreciate all the help and assistance given from everyone at Knockerdown.

Nice place I would visit again. We stayed there for Christmas and we didn't expect anything but we were very surprised to find a Christmas tree erected and lit when we arrived. There were some presents under the tree too. Very nice touch. Thank you.

We really enjoyed our stay at Knockerdown Cottages. The location is great (close to Carsington Water) and the onsite facilities are brilliant for families (laundry, games room, pool and nearby pub). this was a wonderful find and the price we paid for what we got was amazing. ample parking, super comfortable space which was just what my friends and I needed to relax. the heated swimming pool was a great touch, Ashbourne was only 15 minutes away and the pub on the opposite side of the road was fab when we were too tired the first night to drive to town. the buildings are also beautiful and warm. I would stay again and recommend anyone to go for a peaceful weekend

We loved our stay at the knocker down cottages. We visited for 2 nights, on arrival the children made use of the pool and we used the recommended pizza place (bennys) for takeaway. Was a great recommendation as the pizza was good but they said they dont normally deliver that far so had to pay extra for delivery but food arrvied hot. On our second day we went to alton towers which was only a short drive and planned to visit the recommended pub for dinner that is linked to the cottages via the private foot path but luckily we looked online and saw it was temporarily closed. We found another pub/restaurant locally (5 min drive) called The Miners and the food was superb. We are looking at getting married locally so this was the reason for our stay we would definitely recommend these cottages to our guests and we will book again in the future. Thank you 😊

What a lovely place to stay. We used the pool and where able to walk to the local reservoir/RSPB area easily, 5 mins away. There was easy access to lovely towns and Chatsworth. Would definitely stay again.

We stayed here so we could go back and forth to alton towers, it was a 20/30 minute drive which was easy to follow. The house was perfect the kids loved running round for a little game of pool or to go swimming.

We booked a last minute three night short stay in Bonsall Cottage. It is cosy but roomy enough for our family of four (two kids aged 10 and 8) and was easy to find and get into, even though we arrived in the dark. The swimming pool was a great bonus. Knockerdown is really well located near Carsington Water and lots of other local attractions. We explored Ashbourne, walked in Dovedale and also went to the National Trust Childrens' County House at Sudbury on the way home, all of which we'd recommend to other guests. We had a great lunch at Cafe Impromptu in Ashbourne. We hope to be back!

Knockerdown Cottages were perfect for our short holiday in the Peak District! The kitchen had all the essential cookware, the sofas were cozy, the bedrooms were great, and the location was absolutely spectacular! It was a perfect home base while exploring the Peak District, and I would most definitely recommend this place. I would hope to return in the future!

Stayed for 2 nights. Family of 4 and dog. Nice cottage with plenty of character. Plenty of places to visit with 10/15 minutes, Wrinksworth & Matlock we chose. Nice to see places that are not just clone towns. Carsington Water just next door was an added bonus for the morning dog walk. Highly recommend staying here, will hopefully be back.

amazing from start to finish. exactly what we were looking for in a relaxing weekend get away for 10 people. the cottage itself was spotless and well up to date. the facilities like the swimming pool and games room were a perfect way to wind down after a days walking about the peaks. lots of walks close by as well as hope valley only being 40/50 mins away with plenty more to do there. we've already discussed coming back to this place again for our next meet up.

We stayed in the Farmhouse, and was really impressed with it. the equipment in the kitchen was first class, the bedrooms were so comfortable, and we were blown away with all the facilities. The kids would have stayed in the pool all day if we had let them.

Stayed here for a long weekend with the in-laws. Loved our stay here, clean, comfortable, well equipped and instantly felt at home. The team were friendly. The swimming pool was a bonus, spotless shower and changing areas. Lovely children’s play area and games room. The Knockerdown pub across the road serves really good food and staff are welcoming and attentive. Great location, visited Crich tram museum, national trust houses, Matlock Bath and Heights of Abraham. We would go back again, highly recommend.

Knockerdown cottage was beautiful outside and in. Beautiful surroundings and staff are so helpful. Our cottage was outstanding with beautiful original features, very homely, and has everything you need for a self-catering vacation. The indoor pool is an added bonus that we use every day. Sabinhay and Edale. Comfortable and quiet cottages in a great location with of plenty on site facilities. Both properties we occupied were immaculately clean and tidy. Very quiet and we had restful nights sleep. Swimming pool was lovely. The playground was much appreciated by our smallest group member (although a bit too close to the property the for younger adults in our party who wanted a lie-in!). The location was perfect and we look forward to returning to explore the area more. The place felt safe for children to burn off energy in whilst we readied ourselves for day trips. The staff were really friendly and helpful.

A rare occasion when all our family could get together for a weekend, and made perfect by being able to be at Knockerdown. Very clean , well equipped, great location, secure parking, great swimming pool and leisure facilities, all helped make a perfect weekend for us all.

We loved our stay here! Close to lots of the great sights in the Peak District by car and also the reservoir by foot. The complex is well kept with lovely views and our cottage was so cosy to come back to after a day of exploring. We would definitely recommend :)

I have to say we were extremely impressed on arrival. We got there a couple of hours early and they had text to say our room was ready. Staff are lovely if you have any queries or need suggestions to where to visit. It was a lovely complex, great accommodation with swimming pool, games room and a playground outside our patio windows, which made us think we'll be back with our grandchildren! It's a great place for families but we had a lovely time as a couple too, plenty space and surrounded by the most beautiful countryside, amazing for walkers or if you fancy a drive to take in the scenery or find quaint tea rooms or great country pubs, like us. And to top it off they had a gate to a country pub just over the road, we sat outside taking in the view over Carsington Reservoir. As you can tell we had a fabulous time and would definitely recommend.

Would highly recommend for anyone looking to stay as location was spot on and the road links were ideal for getting around.

3rd visit and hope to return again! Lovely old buildings, warm, modern fittings, car access for unloading and plenty of parking. swimming pool clean and warm with beautiful views over farmland.

From the initial booking the communication has been great. The property slept 12 (6 children and 6 adults) with plenty of dining and communal space for everyone. Two large bathrooms and lots of hot water and great heating system that kept the Farmhouse warm all day. The kitchen was well kitted out with plenty of crockery and cutlery and a large fridge freezer. Everything was supplied including towels and toilet rolls etc. Great base to explore Dovedale, Heights of Abraham, Alton Towers and a 20 minute drive to Ashbourne for food. The pool, gardens and other amenities were also really well setup for the children. I would recommend Knockerdown to anyone looking for accommodation in the area.

We stayed at knockerdown cottages for 3 nights for my birthday …with the unexpected heavy snowfall we were unsure we’d even make it or be able to get out. However the snow made everything even more fun and the landscape extra beautiful. The cottage was perfect, had everything we needed, the beds were comfy and the little bunk bed for our daughter was perfect 🫶🏽The swimming pool was such a fab extra and we used it 3 times, was so warm and perfect for a little afternoon splash! The staff seemed really friendly whenever we crossed paths and the check in and information prior was super helpful. The place is in driving Distance to Carsington, dovedale, Matlock and much more and we visited numerous pubs for dinner and drinks. Overall a lush stay and will definitely be back 👋🏽

Amazing short break. Cottage was amazing, had everything you could possibly want in a stunning location and was so comfortable and spacious. The little touches like blankets with the sofas were really appreciated. Kids loved the indoor heated swimming pool and the on site play area.

The most incredible place for a weekend away with kids. The house was beautiful, warm cosy, comfy beds, couldn't fault it. Brilliant site with access to a lovely pool and great play area and games room. We booked last minute so it was incredible value for 8 of us!

Our cottage (Lendow) was wonderful- huge but also really warm, snug and comfortable. Plenty of space for all of us, and it was lovely to all have our own beds! Lots of nice little extra touches too like two bath towels each instead of the one you usually get in in most places. The swimming pool was also fab. The location is perfect - walks round Carsington straight from the door but also a really short drive to Dovedale/tearooms/pubs etc. We'll definitely be back!

Knockerdown cottages- Alstonfield - Was our dog friendly cottage for the weekend, it was well kept and perfect for our weekend stay over the new year. A great location for short drives to the main Derbyshire locations, Bakewell, Matlock etc and just up the road from Carsington water. The site itself was very peaceful, and we took advantage of the swimming pool on site which was nice to have. Would definitely return.

What a wonderful place! We went with our 1 year old and dog and couldn’t have asked for more…apart from staying longer 😊! The cottage had everything we needed, very clean and the site was beautiful too. Everyone very friendly and helpful and will be back again! Definitely recommend .

A first time at Knockerdown cottages & won’t be our last. We booked out 3xcottages sabinhay, Middleton & wisels. All were spotless which was absolutely fab! Everything that you needed to clean. They were topped up with essentials which was a bonus. Warm & cosy with beautiful Xmas trees. You have a shared swimming pool which is opened from 8-6 which is great as we had the kids with us. A games room & a play area so enough to keep them busy if your not going out. Dovedale is about 20 mins away which has breathtaking views!you also have other activities to do not so many miles away. The communication between me (the leader of the group) and the staff was brilliant. The whole process from booking to finish was smooth this Made the holiday even more enjoyable.
Overall a lovely winter vacation for all the family. Thank you from us all.

Knock-me-over value

This little cottage is very comfortable and has everything you will need for a short countryside stay. We were two couples and we made use of the games room on site (£1 coins required). The beds are very comfy and the cottage is warm. The cottage has a large freezer and a fridge too. The cottage is close to Carsington water, we enjoyed hiring bikes and cycling around the water ( 1.5hrs). We would stay here again!

A great 4 night stay. Perfect for the 4 and 6 year old. A lovely cottage, just the right size with all the comforts of home. The pool was brilliant used it every day and the grounds were lovely. The proximity to Carsington was a bonus as the play park and trails there are amazing.

Very relaxing, pool was perfect, a lovely break away. The location was lovely, a minute away from Carsington Waters, with great food, shops and bird hides overlooking the lake. The scenery around the area was breath-taking. The cottage had everything and was the cleanest holiday cottage we have ever been in. No dust anywhere. Incredible. We would like to go back.

We had an amazing 3 night stay in Farwell Cottage. The cottage was in a perfect location to enable us to visit dovedale stepping stones and also a trip to Alton Towers! The cottage was immaculate and had everything we needed. The kids loved the pool and also the games room. We would definitely stay again. Hopefully for longer next time as we didn’t want to leave!

This place is a hidden gem. We fell upon it while searching for a staycation. What a stroke of luck. We can honestly say Knockerdown Cottages is beautiful and fantastic. No hassle registration, keys available on arrival, beautiful grounds, great pool, and as for the cottages we wanted for nothing. We possibly had the best weather we could have wished for that enhanced the experience but what a holiday. This was my girls first real holiday since Covid, and I think we will have problems trying to improve. We went to Carsington Waters, Gullivers Kingdom, many local pubs and villages but when asking my youngest what was the best part, she said the cottages. I can't and don't want to keep going how good it was, you just need to experience the place. Loved it, loved it, loved it!

We had a great time at Knockerdown Cottages. We stayed in Ible. The cottage was lovely and clean and well maintained, the beds were so comfortable, the kitchen had everything you'd need for your holiday. We were impressed. The site itself is a lovely addition, to have the games room and swimming pool is fab. There's so much to do in the area especially if you like cycling and walking. Being walking distance from Carsington Waters is a massive plus too. We didn't need to drive more than 15 mins to get to everything we did. Had a great walk from dove dale to mill dale, hired bikes, visited cromford mill. There was so much we didn't have time to do so it likely we'll be back. Thank you to the team at Knockerdown Cottages you do a great job.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Knockerdown Cottages. The cottage was well -equipped for 10 people and the indoor swimming pool and play area was much appreciated by adults and children both. Close to Carsington Water and many other excellent places to visit round about. The management and staff were all very helpful and friendly and the cottage and surroundings were very clean.

Good choice for a short stay in a lovely area. Comfy, well equipped accommodation and leisure facilities for adults. The Bonsall cottage is ground level only and a good size for two adults. Nice roomy bathroom, double or twin beds in bedroom with plenty of storage space. Kitchen area is equipped with all that is needed for a short stay. Leisure area likewise. Liked the key safe for safety and easy access. Responsive, efficient, friendly staff. Indoor pool; welcome addition, handy laundry on site. Plenty of heating if required. Liked that vehicles are kept away from the accommodation with plenty of car parking provided.

We also booked Wisels for same dates. The whole process was problem-free. Cottages ready early on arrival day, very clean and lovely. Staff friendly and kind. They even arranged good weather for our stay!!! Pool, games room, play park and grass area were a real bonus too. We had a fab week with lots of biking and places to visit. Party aged from 4yrs to 66yrs!

Two Dales - perfect family cottage, clean and comfortable with lots of space for 6 adults & 5 children, never felt too crowded. Great location. Good facilities on site, fantastic swimming pool, we were lucky enough to get two days swimming for an hour each time. I imagine in busy periods we would have only have got the 30 minutes allocated slots. Lots of outdoor space for children to run round safely.

A fantastic cottage used as a base for our four-night break away, situated in the beautiful countryside. Effortless self check-in, brilliant communication, & the cottage contained everything we needed. Would not hesitate to book again. We had a fantastic stay here and were very sad to leave. The hosts were very quick to answer any questions we had! We loved the sign up system for the pool as we have a 3 month old that hadn’t been swimming before so it was perfect just being us in the pool so she wasn’t overwhelmed and loved every minute! It’s very easy to get to many different places from here we went somewhere new everyday with just a short drive. If you fancy a lovely meal out we would definitely recommend The Bowling Green in Ashbourne (about 10 mins away).

We stayed in farewell 4 adults (inc grandparents) and 2 kids, plenty of space. Ideal for children as well maintained playground and meadow right outside back door. Swimming pool was a bonus. Worked really well with covid safe 30 min slots (might even be worth them doing the slots post covid!). Super location Carsington water just minutes away, easy reach of Buxton etc.

We stayed in one of the Knockerdown Farm cottages and loved it. It’s rare when the photos of an airbnb place don’t do the property justice but this is the case here. The cottages, the farm complex and the whole area where the accommodation is is very pretty. The field at the back of the cottages offers a stunning view over rolling hills. The place is easy to find, there is ample parking on site and you can drive up to most of the cottages to unload bags etc. There are bbqs available and picnic benches outside every cottage where you can have a sunny breakfast or evening drinks. We stayed in a two bedroom cottage could be smallish I guess for two families but more than enough room for our family. It was spotless, the beds were really comfortable and the bedding and towels were lovely. We had our 3 year old with us and the cottage was great for her, we obviously had to keep an eye on her on the stairs but the site has a playground and swimming pool which she loved. The only tiny negative point is that the road passing the farm/cottage can be a little loud but we couldn’t hear it in the cottage and we were one away from the road. We contacted our host once during our stay and got a very helpful and quick response. We don’t know the area and as the cottages are just outside the national park I wasn’t sure what to expect but the countryside is glorious and there are so many things you can easily drive to. We went to Chatsworth, did the Mam Tor walk (easily doable with a 3 yr old), went to Abraham Heights and Monsel Head viewpoint. They were all stunning. We’ll definitely visit the peaks again and would absolutely stay at here again.

Had a wonderful 4 days at two Dale’s cottage . The cottage had all the amenities we required . We loved the pool facility and the playground with our 16month old grandson . Great to be able to use the on site portable bbqs . Would certainly recommend to a family of all ages

Beautiful location, very clean cottage and pool, with easy enough system for booking slots (from 6.30 evening before, generally good availability). View from gardens was spectacular - if you can book a cottage facing the view and away from the road, I'd recommend - although we were perfectly happy facing the courtyard. Would stay here again for sure.

The Farmhouse was beautifully presented, spacious, well equipped and clean. The front garden and seating area were lovely and it was great having access to the pool, pub across the road and Carsington Water within a few minutes.

Lovely place to stay with friends and/or family. Great location and great facilities like the swimming pool, table tennis, large grass area behind the cottages to play football etc. We only had one issue which was resolved as soon as they could (hot water stopped), the hosts provided us with excellent customer service. The wifi here is very weak and the mobile data/network is also not the best so you should expect slow/no internet at times. I've stayed in cottages over the years and this was my favourite so far, would definitely recommend.

For walking and cycling in beautiful countryside this was an excellent base. We really appreciated the copious hot water and warmth of the cottage after an active day.

Fantastic house for two families to share and absolutely loads of room for the kids. Facilities were brilliant, especially the swimming pool (we loved the timetable) and the large grassy area with play area kept them entertainined for hours. Would highly recommend a stay in Knockerdown Cottages!

We had a lovely stay at Knockerdown Cottages. There was lots of space for a party of 10 and we really enjoyed being able to use a swimming pool. The cottages are in a great location, a walk away from the lake and a relatively short car journey to caves and other tourist attractions in the area.

Great for a good walk around the nearby Carsington Water and just a short drive to local towns but best of all just next door to a lovely pub with great food, Knockerdown Inn. Would really recommend this cottage holiday for everyone, including families, as with an indoor pool gives another option to keep children entertained.

The location is good too, with attractions such as Chatsworth House not too far away and The Heights of Abraham close by. Nice cottages with well maintained shared areas. The play area is great for kids and the pool is really nice and clean. There is a also a spa onsite which I didn't use but was a nice surprise! The only downsides for us were the proximity to the main road which was quite noisy, the reduced time slot in the pool due to Covid (30 mins per day) and the lack of a log burner in the cottage which would have made it extra cosy. Otherwise it was a really nice stay.

What a great find! We were visiting Alton Towers for a rearranged visit and wanted to spend more than one night, we came across Knockerdown Holiday Cottages by chance and we are so glad we did. It was perfect for us, the living space was bigger than expected and perfect for our two families. The bedrooms were all well proportioned and the cottage was well equipped, with everything we needed. We managed to get a slot in the pool and used the children's play area and actually felt safe doing both in the current Covid climate. The pub across the road was an added bonus, although the road was a bit busy to cross (a speed camera near by would be a good addition to slow the traffic down!). We really couldn't fault our stay and will definitely come back when visiting the Peak District. Thank you!

This is a really nice cottage for two families. Clean and spacious. There was a couple of minor issues in the kitchen as the oven was a bit dirty and the knifes were blunt and rusty, but other than that it was well equipped. Great location for getting around the peak district. They have set up a system so that the pool can be used privately by each cottage which is ok, but it would have been nice if we could have booked a slot for the first day via the office as by the time we arrived all slots were gone. Overall, great place for a family trip to the peak district.

Great collection of cottages with a pub over the road and less than a mile from carsington water. Kids loved the swimming pool, we were restricted to 30 mins a day but it wasn't too bad as long as you're organised enough time wise. Cottage was clean and well equipped.

Really nice cosy cottage, spotless clean on arrival. The pool is great too, starting at a depth of 92cm and up to 180cm, so that even our 3 year old could just about stand in it. Electric radiators in the cottage mean you won't get cold even when it's freezing outside. Important for us: the stairs are just right to fit a stair gate on the top, so our baby couldn't fall down in the mornings but crawl happily from room to room. There were always plenty of slots available for the pool to choose from, although we would have liked to stay in water water a bit longer. We will be back!

Just came back from a fabulous stay at the Farmhouse cottage, great initial communication on rules and regulations in covid times which was really handy and helped us know exactly what to expect and bring with us. The cottage itself was super clean and really comfy, we enjoyed our stay immensely and found the location brilliant as we were 20-30 minutes away from nearly everything we wanted to do. The pool was lovely too and we got a slot every day with our very excited toddler!

Lovely and spacious cottage in a beautiful location. We visited just after the travel restrictions had been eased over covid, there were various restrictions in place to limit contact between guests and staff, so we didn't have much interaction with the staff but the small amount we did have was very positive, they were very friendly and helpful. The 30 minute private slots on the swimming pool worked pretty well, we thought it didn't sound much but it was plenty of time for a splash around and a few lengths, and meant we got to use the pool which otherwise would have been closed. Great location for exploring the peak district. Only slight complaint would be that the mattresses weren't super comfy - could do with a mattress topper, but other than that everything was lovely.

The cottage is spacious, well equipped and had been cleaned to a good standard. The shared facilities are nice including the swimming pool and the playground. The carpets are new and there is ample cupboard space for families. The bathrooms need renovation however. It is difficult to adjust the water temperature for a shower and hand washing. One needs to be especially careful with children as such hot water can cause burns. Other than that, the grounds are well-kept and the surrounding countryside is worth visiting. The staff are polite and quick to respond to any queries.

Absolutely loved our stay here. The pool is what initially attracted us to the place, as we were so excited at the prospect of being able to take our children swimming again! But the actual holiday accommodation was lovely too, perfect for our young family with the bunk bed and space for a cot. The playground and huge field next to it is amazing for children - sadly we didn't use it as much as we could have as it rained during the entirety of our stay. We hope to come back in the future with friends or family as there are plenty of cottages to book :)

Absolutely stunning location. Homes were beautiful, very clean and well stocked for self catering. The playground was brilliant as was the large field to run around in. The pool was beautiful and nice and warm- the booking system of the pool works very well and we had so much fun in there. Perfectly located for beautiful country walks without the need to drive and Carsington water is a very short walk away. Don't forget to try the Knockerdown pub over the road for great tasting food. We stayed as a family of 5, and loved it so much we stayed an extra night! All just very easy with self check-in, fantastic layout, comfy beds, good shower and heating. We all really enjoyed using the swimming pool, table tennis and children's play park. All felt very safe. 10 min walk to Carsington visitor's centre. Would really like to return.

Had a lovely stay at Knockerdown. The cottage and all buildings were clean and well kept, very friendly staff. Little one loved the swimming pool and the booking of a slot each day to adhere to covid restrictions worked well and pool was always clean. Surrounding area great - lots of nice places to eat (need to book a table generally), great runs/walks, cycle hire at the lake, heights of Abraham and Alton Towers were all favourites. Self catering in our own very well equipped, spacious and clean cottage felt safe and comfortable. Swimming pool on site was still open with individual cottages pre booking a slot, which worked well. Children's playground and grounds also open, with other guests also following the Government guidelines. Plenty of free car parking.

Stayed in Bonsall Cottage which sleeps 2/3 people. Excellent for friendliness of staff, value for money and good information on the local area. Good accommodation and cleanliness. We will return.

I am writing to congratulate you on the facilities provided at this site. My family of 10 stated at the Farmhouse and we were pleased with the facilities, not only in the cottage but in the locality and further afield. The accommodation met our needs: good sized bedrooms, large kitchen with large fridge and freezer, dishwasher and dinning crockery and cutlery. It was different having a real fire and we all enjoyed the warmth it provided. All the adults and 2 under 16 year olds ( 15 and 8) thoroughly enjoyed access to the swimming pool and sauna, as well as the games room, which provided hilarious entertainment for young and old. It was great having a local pub nearby (2 minutes’ walk away), though we only visited the pub twice during the week, still it offered fabulous meals which were all cooked to order. A mile away was Carsington Water and all the facilities on offer- boat and cycle hire, fishing, walking, wildlife centres as well as water sports: something for everyone. Ashbourne, Bakewell and Chatsworth House were all within easy reach - so all in all we had a fabulous week. All in all a fabulous place. I would be grateful if you would keep our email on your system and keep us informed with regards the availability of the accommodation at Knockerdown.
